I am bar owner that want to set up my own karaoke system. I hope to use this system for my own place and eventually send it out to other gigs. It needs to be sturdy, portable and simple. Is there any crash course that I could sign up for that could help me sort out what I need?.
I was thinking of using PCDJ RED on a laptop is there any disadvantage to this as compared to other karaoke systems?
I want to use the set up for a regular DJ as well, should I buy speakers especially for vocals or not? Should they be powered?
How do I purchase music that is in formats that have the lyrics that I can send to an external Monitor/TV? What jacks do I need to do This.
If I buy powered speakers do I need an ampand mixer? HELPP!!
Where can I turn for an expert to Guide me through the whole process to get what’s right for me?
I am in Miami from time to time.

There are really a lot of details to getting the right system that fits your needs. I'd suggest giving one our experts a call at (888)893-7464.

To answer some of your question:
PCDJ Red seems like good software but the problem will be getting the music files to use with it. Most people will buy karaoke discs and convert them to a compatible file type. You would connect this to a TV using the common video outputs available on whatever machine you have such as RCA, HDMI, VGA, etc...

Vocal speakers will be better to use with karaoke. The advantage is better "live" sound and vocal speakers should be able to withstand random noises like a "pop" through the microphone. Regular speakers might blow. Powered speakers are more of a preference. If you like the idea and find some powered speakers that fit your power requirements, they may work for you. Others might prefer to use a mixing amplifier instead.
